"CRPC has had an incredibly strong and positive effect on parallel computation."

I was, and am, strongly in favor of the sunset provision in the NSF Science and Technology Center program--at least in principle. But it is odd to contemplate the application of that principle to the CRPC. The CRPC has been so much more than a research center. In many ways, it has defined the community of those concerned with parallel computation. Spanning academia and industry, software and hardware, researchers and users, theorists and pragmatists, the CRPC has had an incredibly strong and positive effect on parallel computation.

As impressive as the CRPC's technical contributions have been, I think it's important to also note its outreach to K-12 education and to affecting diversity in the computing profession. Both have been impressive!

I am very proud to have served on the CRPC's External Advisory Committee, and I want to extend my sincerest "well done!" to all of the CRPC staff.
